I too, have always luved Ozzie and think he deserves more credit than he gets...and much less abuse. That "he's not that good, it's the team in front of him" argument is always so frustrating to hear. Thanks for recognizing that there IS a great goalie behind that mask.

-wingsluver4everAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6010216723186453785.post-8180212597707307422010-08-12T15:01:33.216-05:002010-08-12T15:01:33.216-05:00Ellen,
"Every goalie has had their "oop...Ellen,

"Every goalie has had their "oops" moments." Exactly. For some reason, Osgood has always had comments thrown his way, and I've never understood why. It's not like he is petulant in the media or acts unsportsmanlike on the ice. He seems to be one of the genuine nice-guys in hockey, which is why the scorn that is heaped on him is baffling.

It's funny, because I think there's a current goalie who is going to end up facing the same talk as his career moves forward: lucky to be part of a great team. I've even said it myself. He's been slammed mainly because of last season, which completely dismisses the quality of his career. Admittedly, he's getting older, and it doesn't help that he's small for what it more and more becoming a position for taller, larger players. The worst part is that these people would then admit that they don't watch many Wing games. How can you possibly comment on something that you don't watch? It boggles my mind the stupidity of sports fans sometimes.

I've always thought that Ozzie deserves far more credit than he gets for the success of the team. Yes, he's had his issues in the past, but he's a competitor, and I'd rather that he be upset that he isn't playing than sulking. I'm looking forward to this year, because it's obvious he's got something to prove to the team and the league.Grahamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00697794555787610013noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6010216723186453785.post-42376381153080283942010-08-12T11:20:58.224-05:002010-08-12T11:20:58.224-05:00As a big fan of the 30, I just want to say AMEN fo...As a big fan of the 30, I just want to say AMEN for this post. I've always been a fan of Ozzie, even if at times he's had some attitude issues (like this past season). He's been an integral part of the team and arguably one of the most maligned. Great post, and I couldn't agree more.

-@TheNorm41Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
